Halloween Reading Material
It’s that time of year again! Time when grown adults can dress up as fictional, fantastical and horror-inducing characters without being looked at like they are insane. Well, at least not too insane. Me? I’m dressing up as an authentic Hermione from Harry Potter. I went a little overboard on the costume, but…it was so worth it.
Here is my list of recommended reading material for this Halloween to keep you shaking under your covers late at night.
1. Anything Edgar Allen Poe. I recently picked up his Complete Works in a nice hardcover from Barnes and Noble, but I can’t seem to find the copy on their site. You may have to go in the store to actually find it. If you can’t find it, just read something. Anything! He is the master of disturbing and scary stories.
2. Alfred Hitchcock - Tales of Terror
4. Stephen King - There are many books you could go with here. Salem’s Lot, Carrie, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, etc.
5. Anne Rice - The Complete Vampire Chronicles
6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season Eight - Volume One : This amazing graphic novel by Josh Whedon has its first trade coming out on Halloween day. If you haven’t been reading these comics and you love Buffy, you’re seriously missing out. It may not be strictly scary, but it’s still got vampires, demons and witches in it.
Have a Spooky Halloweeeeeen!
