This Week in Comics for December 6

buffynew.jpgI only picked up one new release comic this week, and that was Buffy the Vampire Slayer : No Future For You Part IV. This comic book series has become my favorite in comics that I’ve read so far. I was (and still am!) a huge fan of the show, and a lot of that had to do with Joss Whedon’s writing and character development. I can see his influence all over these comics, and I am utterly thrilled to have some new Buffy after such a long hiatus. I am so glad that I have gotten into reading comics if just to read these every month.

This issue keeps the series going strong. I love the focus on Faith and the current relationship she has with Giles. Some new characters are making things interesting for Buffy, and I really like where they are going with the story. I don’t want to give too much away because I think everyone should read it themselves. I also have to commend Brian K. Vaughan’s writing in this issue as well as the past few while he takes over for Joss. He has a great style and can really bring on the funny at the right moments.

Score: 9.5 out of 10

xmen.jpgI also read a comic that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. The first issue of an X-Men series called Die by the Sword. It seems good, but I think I may be missing out on some story here to fully understand what’s going on. The story is about the Exiles, pulled together from different dimensions in order to protect the OmniVerse. Like I said, the comic was interesting, but I spent the entire time trying to figure out who everyone was and what was happening. I really wish I had some more background because it does seem like an interesting read. However, I’m probably not going to get the next issue until I’ve read some other X-Men comics or done a little research on past storylines.

Score: 6 out of 10
