Halfway Finished!
Posted on April 23rd, 2008 by JenWriter
According to my estimated total of 75,000 words for my current WIP, tonight I reached my halfway point! I have now passed the halfway mark in being completed with the first draft of my first YA fantasy. Whew. That feels great. I’ve been chugging along the past few days, and I’m really happy with how the story is progressing.
I thought I’d take a snapshot of my progress bar at this point in time, so I can look back at it one day.

Now, I’m going to get some sleep. Goodnight!

Woohoo! Way to go, Jen! I love the halfway point almost as much as ‘The End’.
YAY for you!!!!!!
Jen,
I’ve been lurking around for a little while and finally got the courage to post a reply!!
Grats on the halfway point!!
A technical question for you, which I’m sure has been asked of you before, but do you edit while you compose, or do you just get the idea on paper(or screen)? The reason I ask is that I’m really struggling with my inner critic/editor who seems to want to take the wheel constantly.
Anyway, keep on rolling, and I enjoyed your pics from the Con.

@jbmack: Thanks for coming out of lurkdom! As for editing during the first draft, I try to keep it as minimal as possible. I might go over what I did the day before and spend a small amount of time correcting typos or funky wording. But for the most part, I try to keep chugging along to get the first draft complete. Then, I’ll go back and do major edits.
Congrats – What a wonderful milestone to have passed.
