Naps and Nights Off
I’m a big proponent of writing regularly. As in every day. But sometimes a girl needs a night off.
Last night, I was tired. I’ve been having some trouble with a knee due to an unfortunate fall on a particularly sporty Father’s Day extravaganza. After doing some grad school stuff after a day of working in the office, I decided to pause for 15 minutes, preferably on my bed. I really only meant to stay there for 15 minutes. But it was a stormy evening, and I could hear the rain pelting a rhythm on the metal fire escape right outside my window. Visions of my novel began playing in my mind, and I was quickly lulled into a deep and long sleep.
I took one of the longest naps of my life. At some point, I woke up for about half an hour and then proceeded to fall asleep again for the night.
I barely got anything at all done. No writing at all. Barely any schoolwork. No unpacking. Nothing.
But you know what? It felt so good, and I needed it.
And now I’m back and ready to plow ahead with this WIP. I’m on Chapter 5, and I’m pretty sure I can finish that chapter tonight. I’ve read back over what I have so far, and honestly, I’m loving it. So, here’s to a great night off that recharged my batteries. Onward with the WIP!

You know Jen, I did this this weekend. Nothing writing related (other than a rejection on Sunday ICK). Just sat around and played with the kittehs, slept in til noon…it was great.
Makes me work better too. Hope your process is going????
I was pretty much a slug this weekend, but I did get some editing done last night. I think we all need a break every now and then just to recharge the batteries. I hope your day off has you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. =o)
