Dr. Horrible = Best Thing Ever

If you haven’t watched Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog yet, what are you waiting for? I’m pretty sure today is the last day it will be streaming on the Internet. After that, you’ll have to buy it. Which, of course, I already have off of iTunes because Joss Whedon…well, he did it again.

I was excited about this web musical comedy about a low-rent superhero and the love of his life, and I knew it would be good. Because I have enjoyed every single thing Joss Whedon has ever done. But it was like I’d forgotten that I don’t just like what he does. I fall madly in love with his stuff. Buffy is my favorite TV Show of all time. Firefly comes in not far behind it. His comic books are amazing.

So, I should have known that he’d completely blow me away with Dr. Horrible. It’s genius. Pure genius. I am in awe of the whole entire production. The singing, the actors, the writing and…the ending. I think I’ve watched each Act more than I’d like to admit.

If I ever obtain even an inch of the talent Joss has as a writer, I’ll be one happy girl. He made me really care about these characters in less than 45 minutes. He made me laugh and cry simultaneously. He made me watch through the credits in hopes there was just a tidbit more. Just another second of story left. I want more Dr. Horrible!

So, really. Go watch it. It’s probably the best thing you will have watched in a very long time.

And then watch Dollhouse when it comes out in January 2009.* No doubt Joss Whedon will do it again.

*Yes, I’m totally plugging his show.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve been watching Dr. Horrible almost non-stop for days (I’m convinced that I’m singing the songs in my sleep, especially “Bad Horse”).

    And, forget an inch, I’ll take just a millimeter…no, a MICRON…of Joss’s talent.

You better believe I’ll be watching Dollhouse from Day One.

(I don’t think we need to fight over him, we can both love Joss Whedon equally. Right?)

  2. Dr. Horrible is rewatchable because of its depth. So many complexities, great character arcs, expressive songs. The people who worked on this must have a struck a deal with the Thoroughbred of Sin. I’m nuts about the darn thing.

  3. Dude- the best part EVAR was the last scene when you actually see Bad Horse. So wrong.

Did you know that there’s a website devoted to Joss Whedon? Whedonesque.com I’m not kidding.

And am I the only person to realize that Captain Hammer is just like Buzz Lightyear, only an *ss? Cuz, Joss worked on Toy Story…

I just want the durn sountrack!

  4. Showed part of it to my wife who doesn’t have a SF/F bone in her body and she was laughing.

  5. @Wordvixen: Yep, I’m a huge Joss fan and visit Whedonesque daily. And I’m hoping for a soundtrack. The music rocks.

Aaaaand I’m still watching. Good thing I bought them.
