I was sitting here taking a quick break from the WIP, and I was trying to come up with a blog post for the day. Unfortunately, nothing came to mind other than today’s experiences with the world of agents and writing.
First, nudging. To do or not to do? I think this depends on the agent. […]

Good news! Edits are done! I’m going through the copy one more time and polishing things up, but I’ve at least gone through the entire thing now. Whew. And these edits are making it a lot better. Strengthening relationships, delving into greater detail about backgrounds and surroundings and smoothing out major plot points and transitions.
I […]

Happy writer with her manuscript!
So, now that I’ve finished the first draft, what’s next?
1. Rewrite. I’m trying my best not to start on this right away although I have a little bit already. I’m going to try to let it sit until I go on my trip to Italy. Plane ride editing fun! Then, the […]

I don’t think it has hit me yet, but I just typed, “The End” on my WIP! My first draft is officially complete!
After I typed it, I started fiddling around a bit with the last chapter like I wasn’t actually done. It’s like I couldn’t believe I actually made it to that point. Yes, I […]

So close! So very very close.
Last week, I mentioned that I would try to complete the novel within the next week. That didn’t happen. However, I still made some good progress. Eventually. I’m almost there!
As far as totals are concerned, I wrote almost 7,000 words this past week which gets me up to a total […]

Isn’t easy.
The past few days I’ve been working on the end of my WIP. Let me tell you, this has been the hardest part so far. The beginning was a little clunky. The middle was a mixture of good and not so good. The section just before this flew out of my typing fingers like […]

This past week didn’t come close to measuring up to last week’s progress, but I’m still pretty happy with what I completed. I wrote a little over 7,000 words, giving me 56,113 words total. Not bad for such a hectic week.
Now, I’ve also realized that this first draft probably won’t make it to 75,000 words. […]

After a pretty hectic past couple of days, things are starting to settle down. I think I’ve found an apartment. I hope I’ve found an apartment. There’s still some paperwork and a whole approval process that I have to go through before I can actually call it my own.
In all the Craigslist and Realtor searches, […]

Today was a pretty unproductive day for writing. I had some cat issues to deal with, and I’ve been doing some apartment hunting.
So, unfortunately, I haven’t progressed much in the WIP. I have a feeling tomorrow will be the same unless I try to wake up earlier than usual and do some writing before work.
Oh […]

With less than a quarter of the WIP left to write, I’ve been doing a little agent research. I’m using several online tools and putting the agents I find interesting into an Excel spreadsheet. When I’m ready to start querying (and I’ve already worked on the query letter), I’ll have all my info ready. Then, […]
